Manufacturer information

With a cutting length of 320 (A) mm, cuts in DIN A4 (210 mm x 297 mm) lengthwise and DIN A3 crosswise are possible. However, the overall table length (E) is slightly longer to allow for better paper loading.
The centimeters on the bottom and top of the table start at 1cm on the right and end at 16cm (B). The last centimeter towards the roller blade is not imprinted. On the left of the long ruler (C) there are 12cm to the end of the ruler and on the right 4cm (D).

Depending on the thickness of the paper, up to 8 sheets (70g/sqm) or 6 sheets (80g/sqm) can be cut. In our test (see below), there were even more! With a cutting height of 0.8mm, the Dahle 507 is well equipped for paper, laminated materials and photos. Different DIN formats and angles are drawn on the cutting table.

In our tests with the Dahle 507, both single sheets and seven sheets of 80g/sqm could be cut cleanly. This is even more than the manufacturer suggests. However, in the long run, we would not cut more sheets than specified. Such high stacks can only be pushed under the pressure rail with some effort, which puts unnecessary strain on the pressure rail.

We did not find any deviations from the manufacturer’s specifications during our test.

Other popular machines for crafting or photo cutting in the A4 format are the Dahle 505, the Zoomyo or the Fiskars Surecut. For cutting lengths up to A3 we recommend the Dahle 508 and the Dahle 552.

The Dahle 507 is very easy and uncomplicated to work with in our test. The low weight of the Dahle 507 of only one kilogram in total also facilitates versatile use in everyday life, as this makes it very handy.

How much force is needed?

The cutting of multiple sheets is easy to handle. Not much force is needed.

Is it easy to insert paper?

The paper can be placed under the pressure rail without any problems. The easiest way to do this is to slide the cutting head all the way up or all the way down.

Best Seller

Is the paper cutter stable on the base?

Despite its light weight, the Dahle 507 does not need to be held while cutting. Even when cutting 7 sheets in one operation, the paper cutter remains on the table. We were surprised ourselves that the quite small rubber feet provide such a good grip.

Can the machine be easily modified?

The replacement of the cutting head is very simple. To do this, simply pull out a red button at the upper end of the rail. This allows the guide rail to be pulled out and the cutting head to be removed. The assembly is just as simple.

What about safety?

The protected cutting head makes the Dahle 507 paper cutter very safe. The fingers were always safe when working. Only the replacement of the cutting head requires some attention. In addition, the Dahle 507 has a GS test seal.

How easy is the cut?

A back stop is unfortunately missing, but a transparent pressure bar is available. Working with this roll cutter is very simple and straightforward. If you are interested in a comparable device with backgauge, we recommend the Dahle 440*.

Precision

How accurately can you work with the paper cutter?

The different format sizes facilitate accurate cutting with the Dahle 507. As mentioned, a backgauge is unfortunately missing, but that is normal in this price category.

Are the angles and millimeters as specified?

The machine we tested had a slight offset of the angle unit, which is why right-angle cuts with the angle unit resulted in a slight deviation (approx. 1mm on DIN A4 length). However, this can be repaired very easily by yourself, as shown in our instructions.

Can narrow strips also be cut?

We were able to cut strips of paper with only one millimeter in thickness without any problems. The automatic pressing makes cutting easier, especially when there is a bit more to cut.

Narrow paper strips (5mm) can also be clamped under the pressure rail with a little effort and cut off without any problems. Since the last centimeter before the cutting edge does not have a measuring scale imprint, it is not possible to measure with the help of printed information.

Format variety / equipment

The Dahle 507 paper cutter has the following format specifications:

Angle specifications / angular grid (15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°)

Ruler and measuring scales

DIN A, business card and photo formats

The following equipment and format details are missing:

  • Cutting heads with patterns
  • Carrier bag
  • Table fixtures
  • Wall suspension
  • Laser for cut interpretation
  • Adjustable backgauge

In general, the equipment and format specifications are sufficient for hobby applications. For creative cutting needs, cutting heads for zig-zag*, perforation and deckle cuts can be purchased separately. Replacement blades are also available.

Price / performance ratio

In our opinion, the Dahle 507 is inexpensive, with good quality and sufficient features at the same time. The rolling and cutting machine is solidly manufactured and GS tested / certified. Therefore, it meets the current safety requirements.

Application

Due to its size and features, the Dahle 507 paper cutter is great for crafting and hobby applications. Especially with the additionally available cutting heads of various decorative patterns. Nevertheless, it can also be used in the small office. However, those who need large cutting heights should take a closer look at lever cutters.

Conclusion on the Dahle 507:

In our opinion, the price and performance of this cutting machine match. The Dahle 507 is a good rotary cutter for home use, but can also easily find a home in the office if the cutting depth does not need to be too great.
All in all, a clear recommendation from our side! Check price here!*
